Few kilometers before Cintoia watching the entrance of the valley of the River Sezzate rises what once was the mighty Mugnana Castle. Although the origin of the most ancient parts go back to the 12th century, its today's aspect has been altered by the transformation in villa-farm. In the castle was signed the peace between Florence and other neighboring communes, birth of the 'League of Tuscany,' in 1198. The Keep and the building curtain set by the side of the main gate, with part of the battlement still intact, have still a medieval aspect. The castle is private and can be rented for ceremonies. To me  has happened recently to visit the interior, guest for a marriage, and I have been able to admire the splendid courtyard in Gothic style.
